Woodland Hills West Unbeaten In Playoffs
Nevada-bound Chris Scott struck out 13 and hit a two-run home run to help Woodland Hills West defeat Agoura, 5-4, Saturday in the American Legion Area 6 baseball playoffs at UCLA’s Jackie Robinson Stadium.
Woodland Hills West, made up of players from El Camino Real High, is the only unbeaten team in the double-elimination tournament and must be beaten twice today to be denied a berth in next weekend’s state championships in Yountville.
Chad Boyd, who had three hits, broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring double in the eighth inning. Woodland Hills West will play Santa Monica at 11 a.m. today. Santa Monica eliminated Agoura, 3-1.
Bellflower St. John Bosco advanced to the state finals Saturday by defeating Lakewood, 10-6, to win the Area 4 playoffs.
