Larry Captures 200 Title at Junior Olympic Track
Lionel Larry of Compton won the 15-16 boys’ 200-meter dash in 21.48 seconds Saturday at the USA Track & Field Junior Olympic National Championships in Omaha.
Michael Haddan of Irvine finished second in the 15-16 boys’ 800 meters in 1:52.9.
Elizabeth Olear of Granada Hills won the 13-14 girls’ 200 in 24.00. De Ana Carson of Moreno Valley was second in 24.37. Michael Andraszczyk of Laguna Niguel won the 11-12 boys’ 800 meters in 2:10.72. Jarron Williams of Pasadena won the 10-under boys’ javelin with a throw of 113-10 and Richard Smith of Los Angeles was second at 109-3.
Kiani Profit of Pasadena defended her 11-12 girls’ pentathlon title, raising her meet record from 3,111 points to 3,121. She also won the high jump with a leap of 4-11.
Rashad Rainey-Cox of Riverside scored 1,032 points to break the 10-under boys’ triathlon record with his 400 meters of 1:04.86, shotput of 24-11 3/4 and high jump of 5-1. Riverside’s Reggie Wyatt scored 2,505 points to win the 11-12 boys’ pentathlon.
In the 13-14 girls’ triple jump, Shana Woods of Long Beach won with a mark of 18-0 1/2. Earlier, she finished second in the pentathlon.
In the 11-12 girls’ 1,500 meter race walk, Alexandra Bishop of Brea won in 7:34.56. Elizabeth Paxton of Cypress won the 17-18 girls’ 5,000-meter walk in 27:13.79.
