2 Teens Arrested After Firework Sparks Blaze
From Times Staff Reports
Two 15-year-old boys were arrested on suspicion of lighting a single firework that sparked a seven-acre brush fire, authorities said Tuesday.
The Thousand Oaks teens were taken into custody shortly after the blaze began about 1:30 p.m. Monday in an open area near Erbes Road, said Det. Kevin Vaden of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.
He said the youths admitted lighting the firework but told authorities the resulting fire was an accident, and that they tried to put it out before calling 911.
