Pacoima Man Convicted in Slaying of Student
A jury convicted a 19-year-old Pacoima man of second-degree murder Thursday in the fatal shooting of a Kennedy High School student in September.
Victor Manuel Celis and a teenage passenger drove near the Granada Hills campus Sept. 13 and asked Ricky Lloyd, 16, and another student for their gang affiliation.
When Lloyd’s friend responded with a rival gang name, Celis’ passenger, Hector Ramirez, chased Lloyd and shot him in the head.
Sentencing is set for Sept. 10. Celis faces 40 years to life plus an additional life sentence. Ramirez is awaiting trial.
