Wood Takes Lead at AJGA Rolex Event

Taylor Wood of Laguna Niguel had six birdies and an eagle en route to a four-under-par 68 and a one-shot lead in the AJGA Rolex Tournament of Champions at The Desert Mountain Club Cochise Course in Scottsdale, Ariz. The 72-hole event ends Friday.

Kenny Kim of Cerritos is tied for fourth at two under par. Eleven other Southland players are within seven shots of the lead.

In girls’ play on the Geronimo Course, Erica Blasberg of Corona is tied for 12th at three over par and Jane Park of Beaumont was tied for 18th at four over. Margaret Shirley of Roswell, Ga., leads by two strokes at two under par.
