CHP Issues Apology for Killing Cows
From Staff and Wire Reports
The CHP has apologized for killing six cattle that got loose in a lettuce field near Highway 1 last month.
The officers made a mistake but considered the animals a public safety threat, an investigation has found.
The two officers have been disciplined, said Capt. Bill Vail of the California Highway Patrol. He issued regrets to the Albert Silva family, owners of the cattle killed June 2.
He declined to discuss any settlement reached with the family.
