Metabolife International Inc. filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against Rexall Sundown Inc. over Rexall’s Metab-o-lite diet pills. Metabolife, a closely held company based in San Diego, says Rexall Sundown has used a “virtually identical” name and packaging to piggyback on “millions of dollars” in nationwide advertisements for Metabolife products. Boca Raton, Fla.-based Rexall Sundown is a unit of Dutch nutrition products maker Royal Numico.
