Airlines Need to Improve Service Too
Susan Spano is right about the new hassles of security deterring people from flying (“Looking Back, Going Forward,†Dec. 30). Tightened security is merely the latest addition to a litany of hassles that makes flying an ordeal.
The current focus on security, financial bailouts and “patriotism†seems to have removed all pressure on airlines to fix long-standing problems that include delays, cramped seating, lost baggage and impenetrable fare structures.
I feel fortunate to live in Southern California, where enough wonderful travel experiences to fill several lifetimes are accessible by car.
