Griffith Observatory to Close for Renovation

Two ceremonies will be held this weekend to mark the planned three-year closing of the Griffith Observatory for a $66-million dollar renovation. At 9:45 p.m. Saturday, the final observatory performance of the 28-year-old Laserium light show will be performed before the show takes to the road. It will be followed by reminiscences and samples from popular shows.
On Sunday night at 10, there will be a ceremony to mark the closing of the observatory and viewing deck.
