India’s capital imposed a ban against honking at traffic lights, an effort to calm nerves in New Delhi’s overcrowded streets.

Anyone using a horn within 100 yards of a traffic signal will have to pay a $2 fine, said Maxwell Pereira, the city’s traffic police chief.

New Delhi drivers often blow their horns at intersections to signal other drivers that the light has changed. Waving fists and shouting matches regularly ensue.
