IN BRIEF / PACOIMA
A man who fired shots at police surrendered early Tuesday after refusing to leave a house for several hours, authorities said.
The man, whose name was not released, brandished a gun after a traffic accident about 6:45 p.m. Monday at Glenoaks Boulevard and Hubbard Street in San Fernando, said Los Angeles Police Sgt. Ken Buscarino. The man fled, and when police tried to stop him, he led them on a 45-minute chase.
The man fired at officers near Foothill Boulevard and Osborne Street. Police shot back, but no one was hit. Then the man broke into an unoccupied home and stayed inside until SWAT team members coaxed him out around midnight.
He was arrested on several counts, including suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, and booked at the Van Nuys Jail, Buscarino said.
