Crews Battle Canyon Blaze

Firefighters from three agencies were fighting to control a large brush fire east of Anaheim Hills on Saturday night, but officials said they were confident no homes were in jeopardy.
The fire erupted about 9 p.m. and had consumed 40 to 50 acres of brush near the Coal Canyon offramp on the Riverside Freeway, said police Sgt. Dave Kussman.
Efforts to battle the fire were hampered by 20 mph winds that were pushing the blaze in a southwest direction toward Anaheim Hills, Kussman said.
Still, firefighters estimated the fire was several hours away from any homes, and police and fire officials were not evacuating any residents.
