If the Hockey Is Cold, Just Heat Up the Stu

“Silver-Tipped” Stu Nahan [Viewpoint, Feb. 2] believes that hockey is not regarded as a major league sport because the NHL uses minor league referees. Wrong! Hockey and soccer as well are minor league sports because they still use 19th-century rules in the 21st century, specifically, the antiquated offside rule whereby a player cannot go downfield ahead of the puck/ball. If the offside rule was eliminated, there would be high-scoring, fast-paced games.
Isn’t it about time Larry Stewart wrote another column pumping up Stu Nahan for a job? Gee, Stu must miss those free buffets for reporters. Oink, oink.
