Football, Olympics Have Patriotic Fever
I never thought I’d find myself saying that I was a New England Patriot fan, but I must admit that I’m now a believer. Anybody who can dump on Al Davis and Georgia Frontiere within a two-week period is tops in my book.

Seems to me the think tank at the NFL office could at least try to cover their tracks better for such blatant patriotic propaganda presented as an excuse for a football game. The Colt-Jet fix was at least easier to swallow than this latest edition of the XFL.

A funny thing happened on the way to the St. Louis Rams’ coronation. They got beat.
What a shame for all the writers waiting to ask if this team is better than the Steelers, the Dolphins or the Packers.
The one thing we know for sure is that they are not better than the Patriots.

Postgame quotes I didn’t see:
Paul Tagliabue: “For the integrity of the game, I command both teams to come back out on the field to play the final two seconds.â€
Georgia Frontiere: “I gave it everything I had out there.â€

I trust that the Patriots, if they have a decent bone in their collective bodies, will vote referee Walt Coleman a full share of the championship loot. He was, after all, the one indispensable element in their journey to the top.
