Latest Urban Flight of Fancy: Miami Flamingos

Remember the cows grazing the streets of downtown Chicago in bovine incongruity a few years ago? Now Miami Beach, frothy repository of seaside style, is to parade its own street art: sidewalk sculptures of flamingos.
Chicago did the fiberglass cows in 1999, and there were more bovines in New York and Houston, moose in Toronto and pigs in Cincinnati the next year. Miami Beach’s own sidewalk animal show will aim to place about 100 8-foot-tall flamingo sculptures throughout the South Florida city from May until October, city officials said.
