A college student accused of murdering four people by running them down with his car in Isla Vista last year was sued along with his parents Wednesday by the families of the victims.
Four separate but related complaints seeking unspecified damages were filed in Los Angeles Superior Court against David Edward Attias, 19, and his parents, Diane and Daniel Attias.
The victims were struck Feb. 23, 2001, on a residential street near the UC Santa Barbara campus.
Attias was charged with 13 felony counts, including murder, manslaughter and driving under the influence of drugs. He has pleaded innocent by reason of insanity.
The civil action claims wrongful death and personal injury, among other allegations, and seeks punitive damages.
