5 Escape as Flames Destroy Their Home
From Times Staff Reports
Two adults and three children escaped unharmed from a blaze that destroyed their house, a fire official said Friday.
The fire in the 19900 block of Strathern Street started in the garage about 11:30 p.m. Thursday. The occupants tried unsuccessfully to douse the flames, fleeing to safety when they realized it was out of control, said Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey. The cause of the fire was being investigated but officials did not believe the blaze had been deliberately set, Humphrey said.
