Filipino Lawmaker Faces Campaign Charges

After five years of court battles and political scandals, a wealthy Filipino legislator was extradited to Florida to face charges that he made illegal campaign contributions to the Democratic Party and to former President Clinton.
Rep. Mark Jimenez’s flight was to arrive today in Miami.
Days before leaving, Jimenez, 55, filed a lawsuit accusing the justice minister and two others of extorting $2 million from him last year so that he wouldn’t have to testify against his friend and former business partner, ousted President Joseph Estrada.
