Back to the real business
So Valley real estate prices just went up. Rocker Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses, Loaded) recently returned to Sh’Oaks after attending business school in Seattle. McKagan came back to California to work with his former bandmates Slash, Gilby Clarke and Matt Sorum, a.k.a. the real Guns N’ Roses....
And I ran into that “Charmed” hottie Rose MacGowan, a famous former club kid, on Ventura Boulevard on her way to a slickster nail salon in Studio City. She says she fancies the Hollywood bar Star Shoes.... Speaking of Star Shoes, check out Friday’s Funky Sole night. Only the rarest 7-inch vinyl will do.
A treat for Deadsy fans
Deadsy fans got a treat on Sunday, when the rockers raged at Dragonfly in Hollywood. The band toured for six months this year with the likes of Papa Roach, Korn and Taproot.... The club Hot Pants returns on Jan. 18 to Mr. T’s Bowl in Highland Park with loads of live rock and jive.
Options for New Year’s Eve
The spirit of Betty Blowtorch singer Bianca Halstead will be in the house at the Whisky on New Year’s Eve, as Nashville Pussy returns to headline a show. Halstead was supposed to play with the band last year but died just weeks before in a New Orleans car crash....If you’ve got money to burn on New Year’s Eve, Deep and Forty Deuce are offering luxury packages to ring in the new year (up to $6,000)....And Steve Dimon of D.A.S.K. Productions, who rocks Joya on Saturdays in Beverly Hills, is hosting his annual Beverly Hilton NYE blowout.
Blowout benefit
Teenacide Records is sponsoring two shows: the Shakes and the Blondes at Spaceland on Jan. 3 and Viva La Megababes at Bigfoot Lodge on Jan. 8....
On Jan. 5, join promoter Ricky Vodka at a blowout benefit at Goldfingers for 4100 club doorman Kane, who has leukemia. Vodka, who plays guitar in Motochrist, is also directing a film for the Kottonmouth Kings.
New Friday night at Fenix
Promoter Gregg Wadley and partners Dave and Brad Weida are launching a new Friday night at the newly revamped Fenix room at the Argyle Hotel. So chic.... Got jiggy with DJ Senor Amor at a Three Clubs Christmas party. Senor DJs Mondays on the downtown Standard’s rooftop. Oh, behave.
