Girls League Gets Use of Softball Field
Addressing legal claims that girls’ teams are denied equal access to city facilities, the Los Angeles City Council approved an agreement Wednesday with the West Valley Girls Softball League allowing the league to use fields at Hughes Middle School.
The agreement is part of a settlement initiated in 1999 to give the girls’ league a lease at the Woodland Hills school.
The council Wednesday granted the league use of the school’s fields through Sept. 30, with three automatic three-year extensions.
