Funding Faith
Buried among the Christmas ads in your Dec. 13 paper was the announcement of President Bush’s decree (whoops, executive order) to hand over our tax dollars to religious organizations to discriminate and proselytize as government contractors providing social services -- a.k.a. the “faith-based initiative.” It is clearly payback to the religious right, a major player in the Republican Party. Sounds to me like our government is promoting religion and is therefore in clear violation of the separation of church and state.
