Prison time: An Illinois man was sentenced to five years in prison last week in Louisiana on charges stemming from the 2001 auto accident that killed Los Angeles rock musician Bianca Halstead, leader of the band Betty Blowtorch. Brian McAllister, 34, pleaded guilty in September to charges of vehicular homicide and vehicular negligent injury.

Ditto: Will Smith successfully played a con man in “Six Degrees of Separation” but Carlos Lomax of Duquesne, Pa., didn’t fare as well in real life. He’s been sentenced to 37 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to racking up nearly $33,000 on credit cards while using Smith’s identity.

A future in TV?: Based on preliminary Nielsen estimates Monday, last weekend’s edition of “Saturday Night Live,” hosted by former Vice President Al Gore, drew the NBC show’s largest ratings since Britney Spears hosted in February.
