Sex Scandal Won’t Break Church’s Bank
Re “Text of Letter From California Bishops,” Dec. 3:
Anyone who has taken a tour at the Vatican in Rome will be taken aback by the Los Angeles Archdiocese’s claim that the Catholic Church is teetering on the brink of financial ruin because of the sex abuse lawsuits. You could fill railroad boxcars with the gold and silver on display there. Perhaps this “accumulation of wealth” could be liquidated in order to compensate victims of predatory clergy.
