Enron Utility Denies Manipulation Charges

Enron Corp.’s Oregon electric utility denied allegations by federal regulatory staff that Enron used the utility to make bogus orders for power in California that helped run up costs for consumers.
Portland General Electric staff worked independently of Enron’s trading unit, conducted proper trades and didn’t manipulate prices, the utility said in a document filed with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
