Bobbin Lee Is Proving to Be a Good Claim
Since being claimed for $2,500 almost five months ago by owner-trainer Zvi Kriple, Bobbin Lee has been almost perfect.
The 6-year-old Ole mare has won twice and was beaten by a nose in her only loss on May 12.
A California-bred, Bobbin Lee will try for her 13th lifetime victory in the sixth, a 4 1/2-furlong contest for thoroughbreds that drew seven other fillies and mares. The race is also the fourth leg of a pick six that has a modest carryover of nearly $8,800.
In the money in 27 of 40 races, Bobbin Lee will break from the outside and will be ridden by apprentice Baltazar Contreras.
The picks: 1. La Bamba Chick. 2. Cee Miss Tizzy. 3. Per Pritzi. 4. Unknown Dame. 5. Hi Noble. 6. Fra Amici. 7. One Cool Alibi. 8. The Triple Crown.
Four! Use Hi Noble and Its A Chicks in the fifth, single Fra Amici in the sixth, use One Cool Alibi, Pure Red Hot, Throwin A Fit and Hrh Princess Royal in the seventh and The Triple Crown, Contreras, Genester and Bonzai Barry in the eighth.
Shots in the dark: In the first, Flying J Bug--who comes from a winning barn (Jaime Gomez). Launch Pad Lad could improve with the drop in class in the third for trainer Connie Hall.
