Hmong Parents May Keep Kids Out of School
- Share via
Hmong parents are threatening to take their children out of the Fresno school district, saying that they aren’t treated with respect and that they want hours for a home-school liaison restored.
“They see their kids failing in the school, and they want to see their kids succeed,” parents’ spokeswoman Zoua Xiong said.
Parents said they are upset about reduced hours for a full-time Hmong home-school liaison, who is important in communicating campus information. The parents also said they and their children have been insulted.
If their needs aren’t met, the parents said they will keep their children home starting Sept. 9.
