Philippine troops killed a notorious leader of a kidnap gang and rescued a 4-year-old girl and her nanny from a week of captivity.
Three other suspected members of the Pentagon gang--named on a U.S. list of terrorist groups--were captured in Magallanes, about 35 miles south of the capital, Manila.
Soldiers dumped the bullet-riddled body of gang leader Faisal Marohombsar in a wooden cart and showed it to President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo when she arrived later to congratulate her troops.
The gang had demanded a ransom of $1.9 million for the girl and her nanny, sources said.
