Orange County Dominates in Softball

The O.C. Batbusters from Santa Ana won the Amateur Softball Assn.’s Junior Olympics Girls’ Gold 18-under Fast Pitch championships, which ended Sunday at Broken Arrow, Okla., by going 7-0.
Fullerton Smoke (7-2) was second and the California Cruisers from La Palma (6-2) came in third.
In other ASA Class A national fast-pitch competition, the Case Batbusters from Santa Ana finished second in the 18-under tournament at Rockford, Ill., and the O.C. Batbusters and Gordon Panthers, each based in Santa Ana, finished second and third in the 16-under tournament in Sioux Falls, S.D.
The California Desperados from San Juan Capistrano beat the Corona Angels/Tyson in the championship game of the 14-under tournament at Columbus, Ga., where USA Athletics from Garden Grove and the Corona Angels/Adishian finished fourth and fifth.
In Bobby Sox softball news, Pico Rivera won three of four titles at the recent National All-Star Tournament of Champions in La Mirada. Teams from Pico Rivera won championships in the 1A and 2A divisions (ages 8-10) and in 4A (ages 11-15).
