Hearn’s Funeral Televised Today

Chick Hearn’s funeral today at 11 a.m. will get the kind of television coverage the Lakers’ victory parade and celebration did in June.

Channels 2, 4, 7, 9, Fox Sports Net and Fox Sports Net 2 will televise it live from St. Martin of Tours church in Brentwood. Coverage on Channel 9 and the Fox Sports Net channels will begin at 10:30, on the other stations at 11.

Radio station KSPN (1110) will pick up Channel 7’s coverage.

The public is invited to watch the funeral at Staples Center as part of an all-day tribute--8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Those attending are encouraged to bring a new children’s book appropriate for kindergarten through fifth grade. The books will be distributed in Hearn’s memory to elementary school libraries and nonprofit organizations.

Free parking at Staples Center will be provided in Lots 3, 6 and 7.
