Re “County to Seek Tax Hike for Hospitals” and Norman Ravitch’s letter, July 30: I too am appalled that our politicians ignore the basic cause for our state’s growing ecological and demographic deterioration. Education, jammed freeways, health care, housing, polluted beaches, you name it, are problems that will not be solved by increasing my taxes. I am looking forward to November so I can vote against those who insult my intelligence.
