A 42-year-old man suspected of spousal abuse led police on a high-speed chase Sunday night that ended when he rammed his van into a truck on the northbound Golden State Freeway in Castaic.
Police said the suspect died at the scene. They said they believe the man intentionally crashed his Chevrolet Astro about 10:20 p.m. after vowing to commit suicide rather than go to jail. He was alone in the van. The crash tied up traffic along the interstate for miles.
