Wine of the Week
This is a real beauty from Tuscany’s extraordinary 1997 vintage. It’s a hand-hewn, sinewy wine with a long, sweet finish and changes in the glass, taking on nuances through the evening. Though it’s drinking beautifully now, it can easily age a decade or longer. The earthy blend of 70% Sangiovese and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon tastes of ripe black cherries. It would be brilliant with grilled and roasted meats, feathered game and an aged Pecorino.
