Real Networks to Release Improved Software

Jockeying for a leadership position in the market for online media technology, RealNetworks Inc. is expected to release a new version of its audio-video software today that offers 30% better picture quality than its previous edition. The company also plans to submit components of the new software to an international standards-setting group for inclusion in a future version of MPEG-4, a standard media format.
