LAX Bomb Plot Suspect Fights Extradition to U.S.

An Algerian accused of plotting with Osama bin Laden to blow up Los Angeles International Airport appeared in a British court to fight extradition to the U.S.
Amar Makhlulif, also known as Abu Doha, was arrested in February 2001 at London’s Heathrow Airport while trying to board a plane to Saudi Arabia. The U.S. alleges that he oversaw a group of Algerians plotting to bomb LAX before the Jan. 1, 2000, millennium celebrations and that he met with Bin Laden to coordinate efforts.
Magistrate Timothy Workman is expected to rule May 10.
