Man Shot Dead in His Car Near Park

A man was fatally shot in his car near a park Monday in what police suspect may have been a dispute over a woman.
Los Angeles police were investigating a traffic accident at 3:54p.m. at Branford Street and Beachy Avenue when the mortally wounded victim drove up to them, the woman riding in the passenger seat, officials said. The bullet had been fired through the windshield.
He died at a hospital.
Police said the shooting occurred several blocks away. The gunman, possibly a former boyfriend, fled in a Ford Expedition.
