Caltrans Not Greasing Bikers’ Wheels on Base
- Share via
The bike path south of San Onofre that leads to San Diego County is scheduled to open today, but a Marine spokesperson told the Orange County Bicycle Coalition that Caltrans plans to keep it closed to do repairs. An attorney for Caltrans told the coalition’s attorney that it is OK to ride on the freeway when the road is closed in San Onofre State Park but that Caltrans will not remove the no-bikes signs at the freeway onramps at Basilone and Las Pulgas roads.
The coalition can’t afford to take this to court, and Caltrans doesn’t show any signs of wanting to be helpful. But if someone gets a ticket under such circumstances please let the coalition know.
