French Police Arrest Basque Separatist Suspect

French police arrested an alleged veteran of the armed Basque separatist group ETA wanted in Spain for more than 16 years, Spanish Interior Minister Mariano Rajoy said.
Jose Maria Zaldua Corta, 53, was arrested at dawn in the French border town of Ciboure. He was sought by Spanish authorities in connection with up to 16 murders, including the killing of eight police officers and a mayor.
His capture was the 12th arrest of an ETA suspect in France this year, following closer cross-border cooperation.
