Keep Century City in the Neighborhood

Re “Century City Project Upsets Some Residents,” April 14: I recently purchased a condominium in Century City because, as a former New Yorker, I longed for a mixed-use, walking-friendly environment. I envisioned walking to work and shopping. The Shubert Theatre was a powerful and treasured reason I chose the neighborhood.
I would urge the developers of the site to consider what a wonderful opportunity they have to put retail shops at the ground level, facing the Avenue of the Stars, which could draw not only the 4,000 residents of the condominium homes nearby but also the many thousands of visitors from the three luxury hotels directly across the street. Perhaps a small theater the size of the Canon Theatre could be incorporated for an “off-Broadway” venue, which would be profitable and bring many more shoppers to the complex.
This is an opportunity for visionary development that provides people with a neighborhood that could be copied elsewhere.
