Several Big Cities Land on the Hot List

Summer in the city came in April, with temperatures hitting 91 degrees to snap a 106-year-old record in New York and send sunbathers to the shore and into Central Park.
It was not the only hot spot, as Chicago set a warm weather record for the second day when it hit 87. In Detroit, where it snowed less than two weeks ago, weather services reported a high of 85 at the city’s Metro Airport, matching a record for the day.
“We played hooky from work,” said one young woman in a bikini who was stretched out on a towel in New York’s Central Park.
