Wallace Seeks Return

Associated Press

Rasheed Wallace of the Portland Trail Blazers worked out briefly, but it was unclear whether his sore back would allow him to play tonight at Golden State.

Wallace has missed three out of the last four games because of a strained lower back, which he first injured in a victory at Minnesota on March 23.

On Monday, Wallace stretched, ran and shot baskets at practice but did not take part in full-court drills.

Baron Davis, stuck in a walking boot during downtime because of a strained foot, needs rest to heal his injury.

With four games in five days and the Charlotte Hornets in a tight playoff push, he’s not going to get any.

“Who cares, we’ve got to win,” Davis said. “You can’t complain about anything.”

Philadelphia 76er Coach Larry Brown was fined $10,000 for criticizing officials and Sam Cassell of the Milwaukee Bucks was fined $5,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct for kicking the ball.
