Dorsey 18, San Pedro 11--Dorsey defensive back Henry Madge intercepted a pass at the San Pedro 40 with seven seconds remaining, denying the Pirates an opportunity for last-second heroics at San Pedro.
The Pirates (1-2) had pulled to within a touchdown when Kenny Taylor scored on a 20-yard run to make the score 18-11 with 6:33 to play. Dorsey’s ensuing drive stalled at its 47, and after a 46-yard punt by Jesus Jimenez, San Pedro took over at its own 6 with 1:49 to play and no timeouts remaining.
San Pedro quarterback Steve Taylor completed passes of 23 and 13 yards before throwing the interception.
For the game, Dorsey (2-1) limited San Pedro to 115 total yards and six first downs. The Pirates had only 30 yards and two first downs in the first half.
Dorsey quarterback Theron Shakir led the Dons with nine completions in 14 attempts for 88 yards and two touchdowns.
