Huffy Corp. said it expects to post a third-quarter operating loss and sees its fiscal 2001 operating earnings well below previous estimates, citing softness in the U.S. economy and a challenging retail environment.
The Miamisburg, Ohio-based bicycle maker said it now expects to post a loss in the range of 26 cents to 30 cents for the quarter, compared with an operating profit of 48 cents a year ago.
Fiscal 2001 operating earnings are expected to be flat to 12 cents, well below the company’s earlier estimates of 50 cents to 70 cents.
