Police to Be Checking for Impaired Drivers
From Times Staff Writers
Irvine police will be checking the sobriety of drivers tonight, officials said.
The purpose of the check, police said, is to deter impaired drivers both through publicity and by the highly visible presence of officers at the checkpoint.
The location is not being disclosed in advance, but the checkpoint will be clearly marked, police said, and selected motorists will be screened by trained officers as well as have their driver’s licenses checked.
