An adult and a juvenile were arrested Thursday in connection with the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old in Panorama City over the summer, a Los Angeles police detective said.
Rafael Ahumata, 25, of Van Nuys and a 17-year-old high school senior, both gang members, were arrested without incident, said Det. Al Aldez of the LAPD’s Van Nuys Division.
Ahumata and his alleged accomplice will be questioned in the slaying of Eric Delgado, who was shot several times June 9 as he stood in front of a building in the 7900 block of Willis Avenue.
Although the suspects are known gang members, the victim had no gang affiliation, Aldez said. The killers drove up to Delgado, exchanged words with him, then pulled out weapons and fired, he said.
Ahumata is being held at the Van Nuys jail in lieu of $1-million bail. The teenager is in custody at Sylmar Juvenile hall. Both could be arraigned on murder charges as soon as today.
