Top-Ranked Marina Breezes Past Esperanza

Freshman Jennifer Osborn shot an even-par 36 to lead Huntington Beach Marina, the top-ranked team in The Times’ Southland rankings, past No. 4 Anaheim Hills Esperanza, 212-218.
The victory at Meadowlark Golf Club in Huntington Beach helped the Vikings improve to 8-0, 3-0 in the Sunset League.
Senior Lisa Sweller shot 37, her best round of year, and sophomore Jane Chin shot 40 for the Vikings.
Esperanza dropped to 8-1, 2-1.
In girls’ tennis:
Granada Hills 7, Woodland Hills El Camino Real 0--Jessica Linder and Alexandra Margolin won, 8-7, at No. 3 doubles in a match between two of the City Section’s top teams.
Granada Hills is 4-0.
Palos Verdes Peninsula 13, Beverly Hills 5--Nikki LaBrucherie and Danielle Holt swept three doubles sets, 6-0, as No. 2 Peninsula (6-2, 2-0) won a Bay League match against No. 6 Beverly Hills (2-1, 1-1).
San Clemente 9, Mission Viejo 9--Elizabeth Buckley’s 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 victories helped San Clemente (6-2) win on games, 81-77, in a South Coast League opener.
In girls’ volleyball:
North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake def. West Hills Chaminade, 15-4, 15-4, 15-8--Courtney Schultz had 14 kills and Alex Dunphy had 27 assists for Harvard-Westlake (4-0) in a Mission League opener.
Terbrie Taylor had 10 kills.
In water polo:
Corona del Mar 5, Lake Forest El Toro 4--The top-ranked Sea Kings got three goals from John Mann to defeat No. 5 El Toro (9-5) in a nonleague match. . Brent Dana scored twice for El Toro.
