Verdict in Slayings to Be Revealed Today
A San Fernando jury reached a verdict Wednesday in the retrial of 16-year-old Michael Hrayr Demirdjian, who is charged with first-degree murder in the bludgeoning deaths of two boys last year on a La Crescenta elementary school playground.
The sealed verdict will be announced today, a week after deliberations began.
Demirdjian’s first trial in Pasadena Superior Court ended in a mistrial when jurors deadlocked over his guilt.
Demirdjian, who was 15 at the time of the July 2000 slayings, is charged as an adult. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
