Authorities have identified a man who was struck by a car and killed while trying to cross the Ronald Reagan Freeway on Saturday night.
Jorge Luis Gomez Canul, 23, of Simi Valley was hit as he tried to run across a busy six-lane portion of the freeway near 1st Street at about 10:30 p.m., police said. The car that hit him was driven by Sharon LeMaster, 56, of Mission Viejo.
Canul was taken to Simi Valley Hospital and died at 1:30 a.m. Sunday of head, chest and abdominal injuries, officials said. LeMaster was not charged, California Highway Patrol Officer David Webb said.
Canul worked at a Simi Valley misting system company and is survived by his wife and children in Mexico, authorities said.
