Briton Is 1st to Row Solo Across Pacific
From Times Wire Reports
A British rower completed an 8,060-mile crossing of the Pacific Ocean in dramatic fashion when he was thrown from his boat as he neared Australia and was forced to swim the final 200 yards in heavy surf.
Jim Shekhdar, 54, began his journey in Peru last June. He is the only person known to have crossed the Pacific in a rowboat without assistance.
