Mater Dei Rallies to Defeat Servite

Mater Dei scored six runs in the fifth inning to overcome a four-run deficit and defeat Servite, 7-6, in a Serra League baseball game Saturday at Servite.
Sergio Santos, who was three for three, singled in the tying run and C.J. Cook’s two-run double broke the 5-5 tie for the second-ranked Monarchs (10-0, 3-0 in league).
Doug Middleton doubled twice and tripled, and Pete Eastman homered for Servite (3-6, 0-3).
In another Serra League game:
Santa Margarita 9, Bellflower St. John Bosco 2--Michael Beattie was three for four with two runs batted in for host Santa Margarita (4-6, 2-1). Eric Brock gave up four hits to get his first win of the season.
In the championship game of the Orange Lutheran tournament:
Calvary Chapel 6, Orange Lutheran 1--Calvary Chapel (6-5) won the championship with key hits by Joe Carrier, who was three for three, and Brian Stanley, who had a single and triple. Second baseman Scott Wooldridge was two for three and drove in Orange Lutheran’s only run in the third.
