Perpetrators of Scam Pose as OCC Soccer Players

A group of men claiming to be members of the Orange Coast College men’s soccer team have been operating a donation scam in Orange County, school officials said.
Orange Coast Coach Laird Hayes said his team is not raising money with door-to-door solicitations. Members of the group claim that they are raising money for a summer trip to Europe.
“I came home one day and my neighbor told me about what a nice young man I had on my soccer team, who was raising money,” Hayes said. “I have received other calls about it too. We are not raising money for a trip.”
School officials said anyone with information regarding the solicitors should contact police.
